History of LandPlan

Before the Cowboys practice facility and the first-class dining and entertainment at the Star, before shopping at Ikea and the Stonebriar Mall, before all of these things - the city of Frisco was an expansive area of undeveloped farmland, with only the promise of what was to come.

The history of LandPlan, a premier land development company, began in Frisco, a northern suburb of Dallas, Texas. With a passion for land development projects and a heart for serving the community, LandPlan’s founder, Jim Williams, Jr, and his business partner Bruce Smith understood Frisco’s potential - and they had a vision of what Frisco could become in the future.

The Early Days

LandPlan’s foresight and vision for what the City of Frisco could become– started with the developer being attracted to its prime location north of the City of Dallas. Both of LandPlan’s leaders knew that Dallas was expanding and growing in a northward direction - and Frisco was the next city north of the booming City of Plano. Frisco had acres upon acres of undeveloped raw land - and its natural topography with trees and creeks - were ideal for luxury developments. Additionally, both airports (DFW and Love Field) were in close proximity to the city. Frisco had a forward-thinking city government that was pro-development with experienced leaders combined with the highly-ranked Frisco Independent School District (FISD). LandPlan’s leaders knew the City of Frisco had all the essential elements - and it was a recipe for their success.

The City of Frisco attracted professionals wanting the integrity of a “small town community” but with the accessibility of the big city - which was just miles away. The exceptionally-ranked Frisco Independent School District (FISD) is a public education system that was a strong magnet for families with children. It bought many families to Frisco. A progressive and experienced city manager and a creative promoter leading the office of Economic Business Development - together, brought many new small and medium-sized businesses and a variety of major corporations like Amazon, T-Mobile, and the Dallas Cowboys who built their corporate headquarters in the City of Frisco.

By developing and utilizing the land to its fullest potential, while keeping sustainability in mind, LandPlan led the way with luxury residential developments in Frisco. These developments include residential properties such as Stonebriar Park - an exclusive gated residential neighborhood - and Chapel Creek - an affluent residential community with luxury custom homes. LandPlan also developed a state-of-the-art medical facility called Baylor Medical Center at Frisco (now Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Frisco). The multi-specialty surgery center is part of a medical campus complete with two medical office buildings. Other Frisco projects include commercial mixed-use projects like - the Lebanon Ohio Business Center and Warren Legacy shopping center as well as an assisted/independent living facility called Parkview in Frisco.

Expanding Across North Texas and into Northwest Arkansas

LandPlan began to expand its development services to other North Texas cities with residential, medical, and commercial projects in Cedar Hill, Fairview, Southlake, McKinney, Arlington, and Prosper. LandPlan’s vision of developing land with lasting value continues with LandPlan’s current projects extending throughout the Dallas Metroplex and into Northwest Arkansas.
