President of Residential Development
Bruce Smith is a co-founder of LandPlan Development Corp. Since 1998, Bruce has been responsible for strategic positioning, zoning, master planning and development of LandPlan’s residential communities which includes StoneBriar Park and Chapel Creek in Frisco; Tranquility Farms in Fairview and Shenandoah in Cedar Hill. Bruce was instrumental in the strategic positioning and assembling of the Prosper 1,300 acre mixed use development.
Bruce began his development career in the early 1980s as a project manager for the Las Colinas 12,000 acre development in Irving, Texas. During this time, Bruce was the project manager and team member working with Byron Nelson, Robert Trent Jones, Jay Morrish, Tom Watson and the Dallas Salesmanship Club for the development of the Tournament Players Course (TPC), home of the annual Byron Nelson Golf Tournament. Other projects included the development of the Hackberry Creek, Cottonwood Valley and TPC residential and Golf course communities as well as the Williams Square Office Complex and plaza.
Bruce moved to Frisco in 1986 and commenced development of StoneBriar Country Club and the residential development. As General Manager and VP of Markborough Properties, Bruce sold the StoneBriar Country Club and the remaining real estate holdings in 1994 to Club Corp and Hillwood Development.
In 1994 Bruce put in place the business and development plan for the 550 acre Starwood property in Frisco for the Jerry Jones Family Trust. As General Manager and Vice President of Blue Star Land, Bruce successfully developed Starwood and managed the family’s real estate portfolio.
Bruce, a native Texan, graduated from Texas A&M in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Bruce is an active member of the community. Bruce co-founded the Frisco Developers Council, has served on the board of directors for the Dallas Home and Apartment Builders Association, the Board of Directors for the Dallas Area YMCA and the Board of Governors for StoneBriar Country Club.
